Sorry about what you are going through at the moment. 

I assume that the CT scan that you had was done on the chest area, in which case there must've been something untoward highlighted - hence the appointment for the NETS (neuroendocrine tumors) PET/CT scan. This will enable the medics to see IF indeed you do have an endocrine tumor on the lung. At the moment they're not sure.

Given that you've been having problems with breathing, seeing a respiratory consultant would be helpful, irrespective of the result of the NETS scan.

You must be feeling very anxious and it's awful not being able to talk about how you feel with someone.

Thanks for the reply. Yes the CT was for chest area. I had cough and breathlessness but it was previously thought it was Reflux. But I felt my symptoms changed a lot( sharp pain in throat when taking deep breath, and cough seemed to come from deeper)so I reported it to my GP.

Im trying not to read about NET'S online as they scare me too much. I can only wait for now, its just that the wait was alone. But I have been keeping busier tonight and that helps.

I understand, especially the bit about going online.

Am pleased that you kept yourself busier last night. 

It's good that your scan is tomorrow and that you'll be attending the lung respiratory clinic later this week. So you won't have too long to wait. It's the waiting that's so hard.

I had my scan which was pretty straightforward. At the lung clinic I was told I had a carcinoma(which had been missed 3 times by chest xray radiologists).

He said I have had this for at least a couple of years, so it is impossible that it is small cell as I would be dead without treatment by now. He seemed very certain, almost unworried, about this, saying that it was very treatable.

So I have a few appointments to come, and now have some support with my own cancer nurse.

It's encouraging that you were told that's it's very treatable.

It's helpful having support from you own cancer nurse as this can be a scary and lonely time.
