Information about esophageal cancer.

My grandfather who is above 80 and is in pakistan had discovered that he has esophageal cancer which had not been spread however after a week or 2 it became from stage 1 to stage 3. We took him to a hospital and got radiation done for 10 days with drip so he could be able to move as he couldnt move much due to the radiation. The doctor said he wont be able to get cancer treatment because he is "too" weak, however they recommended us that he should get a PEG TUBE he recommended us a doctor too and we went to the other hospital. In my opinion the doctor was very greedy they took more money than usual, the doctor also asked us to go to his hospital and get admitted however there was no need we did go to the hospital but my grandfather didnt wanted to so we came back home however after few days the other doctor recommended him  chemo pills and an injection and they might start target therapy soon.

I wanted to ask about any specialized doctors opinion about it

  • Hi A.eesarah,

Welcome to Cancer Chat. I'm sorry to hear of the situation with your grandfather and also the difficulties he's experienced at these different hospitals.

Unfortunately however it is not possible for us to advise on this. We are unable to give medical advice on the forum, and particularly as this relates to care outside of the UK.

We can only suggest to get a second opinion from a different doctor if you have any concerns about the current recommended course of action.

    Best wishes,

    Ben
