Breast Pain in one breast

Hi,

First time and nervous poster here.

For the last few weeks/couple of months - I have been experiencing pain in my right breast (this has always been the problem one)  sometimes it is random pains, but it is particularly painful if knocked, pushed, pressed - I have to avoid hugging on that side.  The pain definitely gets worse during my period, but I can still feel it throughput the month.

I have seen a breast specialist two weeks ago, he had a good examine and could feel a lumpier area where I was feeling - but not a lump, regardless he sent me for an ultrasound and a mammogram - all came back fine and he said to take oil of evening primrose and ensure my bra is well fitted (I am not particularly large there anyway only a B cup)

Well fast forward to now and although I have been taking my primrose I am still in pain and now feeling anxious that more could be going on - I am 38 and he said too young for this to be menopause.

Thank you for reading if you got this far.

  • Hi I have been suffering pain in one breast for a long time so in August last year was sent for a mammogram and ultra sound and was told it was just dense tissue so left feeling ok then last month was invited for my usual 3 yearly check and went then was called back as there was an anomaly ? Had another ultrasound  followed by a biopsy as there was a 22mm mass I was shocked as had been given the all clear 8 months previously. So now I’m waiting my results all they would say is they have concerns ! So I would definitely not take their word for it push for another mammogram and biopsy

  • My breast cancer started as pain in my breast...also my right breast...I work in a hospital and was having trouble when I also knocked myself, Hugged my children or friends, slept on my side etc...its a dull throb when I got too active....do not leave this any longer incase...please request a further scan and mammogram...I left mine a couple of weeks and felt again after being at work one day and needing to walk around the ward holding my breast....I found a lump and also found out after surgery it was fast growing lump...mine measured also at 22mm for one...15mm for the second and also turned out I had a few spurs coming from it....please insist...it won't hurt to ask them to check again, better safe than sorry my lovely. I am so sorry your having pain...bit definitely worth checking it out again to be sure...have a really good feel in the bath or shower next whether your small in that area or not....my first poke and prod I didn't find anything...a week later I did...the sizes didn't make sense to me as they seemed pretty big for something that wasn't there at all previous week. Good luck and keep us updated xx

  • Hi Jacquie, I’m so sorry to hear this. It’s really quite worrying and the drs won’t biopsy as no particular area to biopsy. The area of concern gets lumpier with my period and is more painful then too, but definitely is painful through other times just not as much.

Have you had any results yet? May I ask what your pain was like? My right boob has always been my problem one, although the pain has changed so at the moment I have scans every 2.5 years - last one before this one was 2021.

sending lots of love your way xx

  • Thank you so much for your reply. The drs won’t do another scan as they’ve said my last was too recent and biopsy isn’t an option as there’s not an actual lump to feel or see on the scan to biopsy.

So I don’t know what to do :( this boob has been my problem one for many years, although the pain has changed and is there daily, it definitely worsens around my period time which is why they think it’s just a hormonal boob.

I had a scan in 2018, 2021 and now this year on that one- although they do scan both.

May I ask how you’re doing now? Also what was your pain felt like please? I really hope you’re doing ok, sending so much love xx

  • Hi,

yes my results came back a. Sarcoma the pain I had was like a stabbing pain and when I turned over in bed I had to hold my breast as it hurt so bad then it was like an ache all day worse if I bent over like a muscle pain that breast had always been trouble too when I was breast feeding it just wouldn’t  ! I’m sure the doctors would have spotted something in you by now so don’t worry try primrose capsules they do actually help and just stay breast aware

  • This sounds exactly like mine I’m awaiting my diagnosis all I know is it’s a sarcoma and grew to 22mm in 8 months
