Taste and wanting to eat

Hi everyone, would like some advice. High white cells and lymphocyte count noticed in December blood test, initially, at that time, I was told would be fast tracked, then 3 days later, told, no cancer cells shown in bloods, whilst something not right, now would be routine referral to heamotology.

All this time, I've lost more weight. I'm not enjoying taste of foods and eating less healthy small amounts of foods, prefured more snack type foods. I know I need to eat small and often as I'm type 2 diabetic also. Told yesterday I DO IN FACT HAVE LEUKEMIA. Any advice welcomed. Also craving salt. Is this normal

Thankyou

  • Hi JC57,

Welcome to Cancer Chat. I'm sorry to hear you've been struggling with your taste and foods. You mention your diagnosis - I'm not sure how much information you've received so far, but it would certainly be worth discussing all this with your doctor as part of getting the details about next steps, what to expect, and how to manage any symptoms and side effects in the meantime.

Our nurses are also available if you'd like to chat to someone - you can reach them on freephone 0808 800 4040 (Monday-Friday, 9-5). However your doctor will be best placed to advise specifically to you.

    Wishing you all the best,

    Ben
