Breast cancer

Hi I had an accident in jan on my horse . Broke a vertebrae in my neck. Through a scan they discovered I had breast cancer. It’s all been a big shock but I wouldn’t have known unless I’d had freak accident. I’ve had lumpectomy and waiting in getting chemo. The waiting is so hard.

  • Hello Campfield2024 and a big welcome to our forum,

Oh what an accident you had poor you on your horse. I hope that you've recovered ok from it - it must have been painful breaking the vertebrae in your neck. As you said, sometimes accidents happen for a reason and at least this unfortunate accident hopefully meant that the cancer was found early and it would have been found a lot later possibly if it hadn't been for this accident.  You've come to the right place to meet others who have had a breast cancer diagnosis. They will I hope be along shortly to share every step of their treatment journey with you. I hope that you won't have to wait too long to start chemotherapy and I thought I would share with you in the meantime our helpful tips to help you cope with this long anxious wait.

Best of luck for your treatment and if you ever needed to talk things through with one of our cancer nurses, they have a free helpline you can ring on 0808 800 4040 - you can call them Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm.

    Best wishes,
