My biopsy shows I have carcinosarcoma

I have been told today my biopsy shows I have carcinosarcoma, which apparently is quite aggressive. Now have to have MRI and CT scans. Are these to see if it has spread? My CA125 count is 12, think this is quite low ?

  • Hello Cfb,

I am sorry to hear that you have found out recently that you have carcinosarcoma. I have found a little bit of information on carcinosarcomas in the types and grades of womb cancer section of our website. There is also detailed information on our website on the MRI and on the CT scan which outlines why you might need an MRI and a CT scan. Don't hesitate to ask your consultant/medical team too to explain everything fully to you as to why you have been told you need these scans. Your GP will be able to tell you more about your CA125 count.

Our nurses are also available on this free number 0808 800 4040 if there is anything you would like to ask them and their helpline is open Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm (but closed this bank holiday Monday). They will be able to tell you more about carcinosarcoma and answer questions you might have or point you in the right direction.

I hope that I will be joined by other members of our community who have been affected by carcinosarcoma and that they will be along shortly to share their story with you.

Best of luck for your MRI and CT scans and I hope that you find out more very soon. Keep us updated if you get a chance!
