Suspected bladder cancer anxiety

I had a day where I was peeing blood and blood clots then it stopped. I am now being referred to a consultant as a suspected bladder cancer.

I can't pretend I am not scared. I am in my 60s.

  • Hello Scaredycat123,

It must have been frightening to notice you were peeing blood and to see those blood clots too. Even if it stopped you did the right thing in flagging this straight away. It's good they are being thorough and you have been referred to see a consultant for further investigations. It's completely understandable to be scared when something like this happens to you and I hope that you won't need to wait too long to be seen by the consultant. Try if you can not to anticipate what it might be even though you have been told you were referred for suspected bladder cancer. You won't know for sure until you have gone through all the tests and received your results and in the meantime, the best thing to do is to keep well away from the temptation to look anything up on Google as this will only make you feel more anxious and won't provide any reliable answers.

We have some helpful tips which I hope will help you cope while waiting for these important results.

I hope that you will hear from other members of our community who have been through similar tests for suspected bladder cancer and that they will be along shortly to share their experience with you. Keeping everything crossed for you - do come back here if you get a moment to update us when you find out more.

    Best wishes,
