My husband was diagnosed with bowel cancer a year ago.

It was only diagnosed after  a routine blood test for his type 2 diabetes.  He had no symptoms.  They found it had spread to his liver and lungs.  After a year of two different types of chemo treatment, and no side effects, and not feeling ill, it appears things are getting worse.  He is booked in for a few more chemo sessions but last chat with the oncologist didn't sound very good..  We have lived the last year as if nothing was wrong, because he has felt so well.  It felt like it wasn't real.  Now I feel all of a sudden its real and I am feeling scared.  He has such a positive attitude, grateful for a long and happy family and life. Trying to stay cheerful for him.

  • Hello CasM,

I am so sorry your husband's cancer has spread to his liver and lungs and that things don't seem to have improved. I hope that the next chemotherapy sessions will be successful and I just wanted you to know you are not alone and I hope that you will hear from other members of our community who have been affected by bowel cancer in a similar way.

Keep strong CasM and if you have any questions about his cancer or wanted to talk things through with one of our nurses, feel free to give them a call on this free number 0808 800 4040 - their line is open Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm.

We're thinking of you and your husband during this challenging time.
