Northern lass Ange19 -womb cancer

Hi

I am Ange from Newcastle upon Tyne and I was diagnosed with womb cancer at the end of October 2023.  I have had surgery a full hysterectomy, I have completed 4 sessions of chemotherapy this year and am due to start the (hopefully) final leg of my journey on the 9 May when I will start radiotherapy, I am to have 25 sessions over 5 weeks.  The treatment is to prevent recurrence and also Incase there are any stray nasty cells that have not been detected.

I am currently on the sick from work and have been since November, I was unsure whether to try and work through my treatment, however was advised not to as at times I have felt quite unwell, even though other times I feel alright.

I would like to hear other peoples journeys with womb cancer and other cancers, to see how people have managed, before, during and after treatment.  It would be lovely to hear from anyone.

I wish everyone well and the best of luck.

Ange

  • Hello Ange and welcome to the Cancer Chat forum.

I'm sorry to hear you were diagnosed with womb cancer last year but it's great to hear that you're nearing the end of treatment. It must be very encouraging to know the end is almost in sight.

Hopefully some of our members will get back to you soon but if you have any other questions or concerns you would like to discuss with one of our cancer nurses in relation to this, they're available on 0808 800 4040, Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m. They're very supportive and will do all that they can to help.

We're thinking of you Ange and wishing you all the best with the start of your radiotherapy next week.

    Kind regards,
