Bowel cancer

Hi I’m Debs I have just been diagnosed with bowel cancer stage 3 which has spread to my lymph nodes, I’m hoping to have an operation, then start radiotherapy and chemo on the 21st May, my head is all over the place phone call after phone call, appointment after appointment, mostly my appointments are not near me, I’m a carer for my 99 year old Dad and I am worried sick how he is going to cope, I need transport to and from the hospital, and maybe a carer to come in and do general housework, any advise would be very much appreciated.

  • Hello Debs.
My name is Soph. I am very sorry to hear the news you have received.
Take a breath, take a moment.

Every emotion, feeling and thought is valid.
Help is available. My advise if create a priority list. You mentioned you are a carer for your Father I am assuming here however I have a feeling you will say that he is number 1 on your list.
There are Adult social services that can provide care, also there is help with transport to aid you getting you to and from appointments. Macmillan and your care team can aid in all of this to help and to support you. Reach out to your team and they will be able to provided all the information.

    I wish you well.
