New to this

Hi, I’m Debs and I am a 52 year old mum, wife and soon to be grandma….I had a mammogram a few weeks ago however I have been recalled for ‘further tests’. I am going tomorrow and have been ok about it up until this evening when I was showering and the tears just started….I’m scared about what maybe and keep playing scenarios over in my head…my anxiety is through the roof….is this normal…...

  • Hello Debs

I'm sorry to hear that you've recently been recalled after a mammogram. This is far more common than people realize particularly if it was your first mammogram. Hopefully, the appointment yesterday wasn't too uncomfortable and the radiologist was able to give you some idea about when you may hear some news.

It's perfectly understandable that you've been feeling anxious. For many people this period of waiting and uncertainty can be really difficult. It can often help to talk things through with someone. If you'd like to chat things through with one of our nurses you're most welcome to call them on 0808 800 4040, Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm. I know they will be happy to listen and offer any advice and support they can.

In the meantime Debs try to remain positive. Keep in touch and let us know how you get on.

    Best wishes,
