TURBT

Hi, thank you for letting me join the group. I recently had a cystoscopy of my bladder as I have been experiencing pain in my abdomen and left and right flanks and have had a number of UTI's for which I was given antibiotics each time. Ho2ver my GP referred me to the hospital and they found "some suspicious papillary like tumors in my urethera.

I am due to have a TURBT on the 23rd April and I was wondering how long the recovery timescale is. I am a 70 year old man with other issues such as type 11 diabetes, inflammatory arthritis, asthma etc. I would be grateful if I could get some idea of recovery time from you good and knowledgeable people of this forum. Thanks in advance.

  • A very warm welcome to the forum Waffs although I'm sorry to hear about the tumours that have been found in your urethra.

I hope this information we have about TURBT will be useful, but if you'd like to discuss this further with one of our cancer nurses, they're available on 0808 800 4040, Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m. They're very insightful and will do all they can to answer your questions about this, and anything else that is playing on your mind.

Hopefully some of our members who have had this procedure will share their experiences and advice with you soon but in the meantime, we're thinking of you Waffs and wishing you all the best for the 23rd.

    Kind regards,
