Surgery recovery advice

I am nine weeks out of surgery to remove a myxoid liposarcoma tumour from Above my knee. As well as removing one quad and a bit of hamstring, the surgeon put in a nail in my femur.
I am doing the physio and making progress with mobility and flexibility but the pain and discomfort is unrelenting and whatever they say about meds they don’t stop it. My ligaments and muscles are totally traumatised, seizing up constantly and being massively tight bands around the leg. I cannot lie in any comfortable position at night so get only very patchy sleep. Does anyone have any idea when things get better? The hospital have basically dumped me till the four month review and my lovely GP and physio have never seen this before so don’t really know. I just need someone who has been through it to say it DOES get better (no ‘Early days and everyone is different stuff though. I know that)

  • Welcome to the forum Laboo although I'm so sorry to hear how bad the pain and discomfort has been for you since you had your op 9 weeks ago. It must be extremely difficult to live with.

I hope some of our members will be along soon to share their experiences, reassurances and advice but if you'd like to discuss this further with one of our cancer nurses, they're available on 0808 800 4040, Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m. They're very insightful, and supportive, and will do all they can to help you at this time.

    Kind regards,
