Hello again

Hello there was hoping not to have to post on here again  I was diagnosed with breast cancer almost 5 years ago. Had lumpectomy and radiotherapy. Been doing well until recently but have found quite a large lump in my other breast. Went to GP yesterday and have an appointment at the breast clinic in 10 days time. I feel very worried.

Having been through all this before it feels worse this time as sort of know the way things work. I’m a fit and active 71 year old. Just getting through until the appointment is quite daunting. Ant advice please to help reassure me? Thanks in advance

  • Hello MaryT19

I'm sorry to hear that you find yourself facing the possibility of a breast cancer diagnosis for the second time. It's understandable that you're finding this daunting having been through treatment previously.

This period of waiting for your appointment is often a difficult time for many people. As you say, when you sort of know how things work, then the waiting can be even harder.

Whilst easier said than done, worrying won't change what this lump it. It will make the next week before your appointment harder and will likely leave you experiencing a range of unpleasant feelings and sensations so if you can, try to approach this with as positive a mindset as you can.

If it would help to talk things through with one of our nurses you're most welcome to call them on 0808 800 4040, Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm. I know they will be happy to listen and offer any advice, information, and support they can.

Keep in touch MaryT19 and let us know how you get on.

    Best wishes,

  • Thanks Jenn for the advice. I am keeping busy and occupied as much as possible. Will let you know how my appointment goes on the 15th.

    Thanks again.
