Hello, I have just started 1st cycle of my second lot of Chemotherapy, for re occurrence of Pancreatic cancer, feeling absolutltey dreadful.

I feel for u pal. nothing prepares you for having that *** pumped into you. stay strong and remember  your not alone. you have to go through the *** to feel better.

My dad has just been diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer, he is waiting for an appointment from the oncology department but in the meantime he is struggling to do day to day things and has a very bad phelmy cough, can't sleep because of it, don't know what to do or who to get in touch with for help for him, feel like we've been told this devastating news and now been left to wait for his appointment in regards to treatment. Feel so helpless

Hi mate. sorry to hear about your dad. all I can say is get touch with the macmillan nurses at the hospital they will help you until you get to see the oncologist.  tell ur dad to hang in there. Once his treatment starts he should start to feel better almost immediately

Hi Like you I have lung cancer stage 4. I am 77 and got diagnosed 8 May 2023. My cancer was inoperable. I have had aggressive treatment which included chemo and radiation at the same time and was completed in September 2023. I started immunotherapy in October and I get that once a month for a year. On the positive side my oncologist still says I'm curable. Unfortunately the radiation has left a lot of scar tissue on my lung and It burnt my oesophagus so i had difficulty eating and drinking plus it made me feel really ill from October to January but I'm pleased to say I am felling great now. Battle through guys and stay strong. I'm here if anyone needs to talk.

Hi cassy glad your on the mend, just wanted to know if you had many side effects from treatment, that's what my dad is dreading the most he's 70. He has cancer in both of his lungs, its been a bitter pill for us all to swallow, it's like your worst nightmare coming true when they tell you that you have cancer. A week on and I'm still trying to get my head around god only knows how my dad must be feeling

Hi Sniper, the chemo was OK but I had problems from the radiation as I said earlier it burnt my lungs and my oesophagus I could not eat or drink I found using a straw helped. They give me morphine tablets and oramorph the later I was taking every hour for the pain After the treatment I felt very very tired and unable to do anything. Your dad will need at this time as he won't won't be able to cope on his own unless he has a wife or partner. As I started getting better after a couple of months I found dust all over, my partner forgot he needed to dust as well as hovering. His defence was he could not find the duster. Stay strong and give your dad my best wishes and tell him not to give up lung cancer is not now as it was with all the new treatments. If they offer him trials tell him to take anything they offer.
