Facing chemo

Hello

Following surgery to remove part of my bowel, I need chemo as it was diagnosed as stage 2 cancer. I am a bit bewildered by the array of possible side-effects as well as having to decide whether to take part in a trial called "TRACC Part C". I'd really appreciate hearing from anyone who is going down, or has gone down, this path. Thank you.

  • Hello Steve150453

I'm sorry to hear that you've recently been diagnosed with bowel cancer. It's good to hear that you've already had your surgery and hope you are recovering well from that.

It's understandable that you're feeling overwhelmed by the prospect of chemotherapy. I know many of the forum members will understand those fears and concerns that you have. It's important to remember that everyone's experience is different and any side effects that you do experience may be manageable. Do talk to your clinical team about any concerns you have and hopefully they will be able to offer you some reassurance.

We have some information about the TRACC trial that you've mentioned on our website. I've had a look through the forum and can't see that anyone has shared that they have been on this trial but hopefully, someone with experience will reply to your post.

If you'd like to talk things through with one of our nurses you're welcome to call them on 0808 800 4040, Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm (excluding ban holidays). I'm sure they will be happy to offer any advice, information, and support they can.

I hope that this next phase of your treatment goes well Steve. Keep in touch and let us know how you get on.

    Best wishes,
