Possible Bladder Cancer

Hi

I’m Hayley, I’m 40 and worried about Bladder Cancer. I had Breast Cancer (TNBC) at 35 and have just had my latest checks and I’m clear for 4yrs now!

For the last 6 weeks I’ve been dealing with recurring UTI’s - the last dip test showed high white blood cell count. I decided to go private & in the 5th March had a cystoscopy with biopsy & dilation (I have problems with my flow) My consultant didn’t say much during my cystoscopy & it was my GP who mentioned that a biopsy had been taken. Would a biopsy be taken if there was nothing of concern? I’m awaiting the results but I wasn’t fast tracked so not sure how long it will be. I’m worrying because the antibiotics don’t clear the symptoms & even though there is no blood in my urine currently (that I can see) there has been over the last few weeks (at one point the count was quite high as well)

I’m just worried that because UTI’s are common in women, that they are just treating me as it’s nothing serious but it’s having quite an effect on my daily life!

Thanks for reading - think I needed to get this down as my mind is doing somersaults, especially having had cancer previously!

  • Welcome to Cancer Chat, Hayley.

Congratulations on being clear from breast cancer for four years! It's understandable to feel concerned about recurring UTIs and the possibility of bladder cancer, especially given your history.

There are many others who will understand exactly how you're feeling.  Hopefully some of them will be along shortly to talk to you and offer support as speaking with those who can relate does seem to help.

While waiting for the biopsy results, try to stay positive and maintain open communication with your medical team. If your symptoms significantly impact your daily life, it might be a good idea to discuss this with your doctors for additional support and options.

Remember, it's okay to feel worried, but take things one step at a time and lean on your support network.

Wishing you the best with your results,
