Husband/daddy with HCC

Hi, Feb 2023 my husband collapsed at home and was taken to a&e where CT scan revealed a massive on his liver which was bleeding out. I knew that night it was cancer and my whole world changed from then. He was rushed to another hospital to stop the bleed and save his life. April 2023 we had the confirmed diagnosis of HCC. Various treatments were given targeting the tumour until Feb 2024 we were told the cancer has spread. Awaiting a biopsy this week and desperate for an appointment with the oncologist so we can see the scans, know how badly it's spread etc and what's next. We have 3 young children and I am heart broken for them.

  • Hello Aimtwinkles,

I am so sorry to hear that your husband was diagnosed with Hepatocellular Carcinoma (HCC) and that it has spread. How stressful the last year must have been for you both with him being taken to A & E and then being rushed to another hospital and finding out last month that the cancer had spread.

I hope that the biopsy this week will shed some light on what is going on and that you can have an appointment very soon with the oncologist to understand the scan results. We're thinking of you and your young children during this difficult time. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to give our cancer nurses a call on this free number 0808 800 4040 - their helpline is open Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm.

Hopefully other members of our community who have been affected by HCC will see your post and share their story with you. It helps to talk to others who have been through something similar before as it must be such a challenging time for you.

    Best wishes,
