Pancreatic cancer

Hi everyone, just joined, diagnosed in Oct, had 4 sessions of Chemo and had to stop because it was making me so unwell,  saw the Consultant yesterday and they are now going to try me on Radiotherapy.

  • Welcome to Cancer Chat MichaelP although I'm sorry to hear about your diagnosis.

You can find out more about pancreatic cancer on our website but if you have any questions about this or your change of treatment then don't hesitate to give our team of cancer nurses a call on 0808 800 4040, Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m. They're very insightful and will do all they can to help.

Hopefully some of our members who are, or have been, on this journey will be along soon to offer you their support and share their experiences and advice, but in the meantime, we're thinking of you Michael and wishing you all the best with your radiotherapy.

  • Hi I am now 5 years with Pancreatic cancer not quite sure when you count from ? ie from feeling unwell, diagnosis or end of chemo ? I was initially given a few weeks as could not be operated on I did 12 sessions 6 hours at a time and a pump for 2 days a very hard chemo but came out the other side I just try to stay positive and do what I want when I have the energy you do get tired but I rest when it gets too much.Keep your mind active and look forward not back. All the best KatyJ

  • KatyJ  thanks for your message, made me feel better,  I was diagnosed in October I had 4 sessions of Chemo,  should have been 6 but they decided to stop because I was losing weight and I was really feeling unwell in the days afterwards.  I now have a meeting with the main Radiotherapy specialist this week to discuss if that's the next route to go down, onwards and upwards.

  • Hi I have been diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer and have some nodules in my liver. I was on Chemo for 6 months but then got sepsis. The cancer is now spreading again and I have been prescribed Capecitabine chemo tablets. Only on my second week just hope I can tolerate them for a while. I hope that you are able to have Radiotherapy.

  • Hi Audrey sorry to hear you struggled with chemo hopefully the tablets will help. The Oncologist said I had lesions on the Liver also but I am sceptical as I’m feeling ok and had no repercussions just waiting my next consultation and scan results April.Keep up the fight and stay positive all the best
