I'm sorry to hear that you're currently waiting to see a specialist following your recent GP appointment. It's understandable that you and your wife may be feeling anxious about this. 

It's difficult to say how long you may be waiting as this will depend on many different factors. The best thing would be to give the hospital a call to check that your referral has been received and to ask if they can give you an approximate time frame for an appointment. If you're available to attend at short notice then it's always worth mentioning this to the secretary or waiting list clerk.

The referral came through literally the day after posting for next week, which eases slightly. I hope anyone reading this at some point sheds some light.
