Newly diagnosed cancer in lymph node probably breast cancer but awaiting scan results

Hi I am a 46 year old woman - I recently found a lump in my arm pit and had mammogram, ultrasound and biopsy which confirmed cancer in my lymph node. They think breast cancer but nothing showed on mammogram and triple negative. Stupidly googled about CT scan then have been worrying about worst case scenario. I have been signed off work as finding it hard to cope but planning to start working again today. Feel in limbo while we wait for results and see oncologist next week to hopefully find out diagnosis and treatment plan. Would love to hear from people in a similar situation as everything is so uncertain and finding it hard to stop negative thoughts taking over

  • Hi I am 60 now and was diagnosed with lymph node cancer when I was 59 years old, as I found a lump under my arm 2 years ago in June, the CT scan is nothing to worry about as the cancer nurses are brilliant, it isn’t painful and will give you definite results, takes about 40 mins, I was like you the unknown, i worried myself sick, I didn’t have any cancer in my breast after the CT scan, but found 14 lymph nodes under my armpit where I could only feel one, I had  stage 2 cancer in which they took out within 2 weeks,I have been through all my chemo, radiotherapy, and am now with the moving forward clinic as I’m on cancer medication to stop any lymph nodes from growing again and under the hospital for the next 5 years. Keep positive it’s the only way but it is a long journey ahead.

  • Thanks  good to hear you are through the worst of it and moving forward.
