Hi - in remission from APML Leukaemia, going through tests for ovarian and bowel cancer

Hi, just joined the group....

I had APML Leukaemia in May 22, total shock, like it is to all of us.  Struggled with the diagnosis and treatment... Currently in remission, which is great... But just worried about whether it's spread?  Can it spread?  Currently having tests for ovarian and bowel cancer... I'm just hoping it's not.

Appreciate anyone who can advise?

Many thanks

  • Hello Taffers,

I hope you won't mind but I have added a little information to the title of your thread to make it more specific. This will hopefully make it easier for others who have had Acute Promyelocytic Leukaemia (APL)  to find your post and hopefully share their experiences with you. It's great news that you are currently in remission. I am not sure myself whether it can spread - this is not mentioned on our APL page though it mentions that it can sometimes come back. Our cancer nurses will be able to tell you more about whether it can spread - feel free to give them a call on this free number 0808 800 4040 - their line is open Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm and they will be happy to answer any questions you might have.

I am sorry to hear you are going through tests at the moment for ovarian and bowel cancer - this must be such an anxious time for you having to go through this when you are in remission from APL. I am keeping everything crossed for you that everything is fine and that these ovarian/bowel cancer worries turn out to be nothing of concern.

I will now let any of our members who may have been in a similar situation come and say hello and share their story with you.

    Best wishes,
