I am a 72 year old lady who was diagnosed with COPD/emphysema in 2010. I stopped smoking in 2007. My condition is now severe. My mum, brother and my mums three brothers all died of lung cancer and all at a relatively young age so therefore I consider myself high risk. There is a Targeted Lung Cancer screening programme currently underway where ex smokers and smokers are invited for a CT scan to detect early signs of lung cancer. The qualifying ages is between 55 and 74. I live in the Sefton area of Merseyside which is split into two - South Sefton which covers Liverpool and North Sefton covering my area of Southport. South Sefton are being screened but unfortunately not North Sefton. I have contacted as many heath services that I can think of to be able to get screened but am hitting a brick wall time and time again. I just wondered if anyone else is in this situation? I would welcome any comments.
