Feeling annoyed about everything!

Hi.

I was diagnosed in Sept 23 and started treatment in October. I've had 3 lots of ec and 10 lots of taxol,  I feel like I've been coping with it really well until recently.  I just feel like everythin everyone does annoys me, I get really frustrated and upset.  I feel like my life is on hold and everyone else's is continuing around me.  My family are so understanding and really try there best to look after me, but I just never feel happy lately.  I'm driving myself mad with it,  I thought coming towards the end of my treatment would make be feel better.  I've still got surgery and radio to o, so whether this is playing on my mind I'm not sure.  Please can anyone offer any advice? Thanks ️

  • Hello Diane74

I wanted to post a reply to hopefully offer you some reassurance that the emotions that you've described in your post are perfectly natural after all that you've been through over the last 6 months. I know that many of the community members here will be nodding and recognising your story as something similar to their own experiences.

You've been under a lot of mental, emotional, and physical stress since your initial diagnosis and it's understandable that even though you're coming to the end of this phase of your treatment you're struggling.

It's great to hear that your family has been so supportive and understanding. Undoubtedly having that close source of daily support is invaluable. Sometimes, what we also need, is to have some external support where we can rant, be angry, or cry with no fear of judgment or upsetting/worrying the person we are talking to. I know that many of our members have found that support through organisations such as Maggie's and some of our members have found that they have access to counselling support through their hospital team. It's definitely worth talking to your breast care nurse about what support options are available locally. You might also want to chat with your GP for some advice.

We do have some information on our website about how cancer can make you feel that you may find useful and will hopefully help reassure you that these feelings are a normal part of the cancer journey. You might also want to give our nurses a call and chat things through with them. I know they will be happy to listen and offer any advice, information, and support they can. If you'd like to chat with them they're available Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm on 0808 800 4040.

Keep in touch here on the forum Diane. Feel free to use this as a safe space to share your thoughts and feelings. We're here to listen and we'll do our best to support you as you move on to the next phase of your treatment.

    Sending you my best wishes,

  • Thank you for your reply.  I really do appreciate it.  I am going to take your advice and speak to my cancer nurse About some counselling.

It's good to know that I'm not alone with these feelings, and that there is support out there I just need to ask for it.

    Thank you so much

    Diane
