Still in shock: my fiancé was diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer and stage 4 multiple liver cancer

Hi, my fiancé was diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer and stage 4 multiple liver cancer in September 2023, no symptoms, non curable, no surgery but hoping for the cancer to be manageable. He has received six cycles of intravenous and oral chemotherapy, the results being the cancer has shrunk on his colon and liver, amazing ! No more treatment, he will be scanned in three months time, bloods done and then see if it has stayed the same or grown. Its hard, the worry seems to be overtaking my life at the moment with anxiety and I can’t sleep.

  • Hello Wilmadog,

I am so sorry to hear about your fiancé's stage 4 colon cancer diagnosis. I hope you won't mind I have slightly edited your title to include more details about your fiance's cancer. This will ensure your post is more visible to others who have been affected by stage 4 colon cancer in a similar way. How amazing that the chemotherapy has been successful in significantly shrinking the cancer on his colon and liver. We love hearing stories like this so thank you for coming here and sharing these incredible results with us. It's good that he will be monitored closely and scanned again in 3 months' time and I am keeping everything crossed for you that it stays the same and doesn't grow again.

This is very good news but I can understand the worry will always be there and it's completely understandable but he seems to be in very good expert hands and I hope that his results will continue to be good and that he will carry on being monitored very closely. It's probably also all hitting you now as you have a moment to breathe when he has no treatment and if you are finding that you are struggling to sleep, don't hesitate to talk to your GP about it who will I am sure have some good suggestions for you. It's important that you regain quality of sleep and life after everything you've been through with your fiancé recently.

Best wishes to you and your fiancé,
