How do people cope? My son is having treatment for a brain tumour

My son is half way through his chemo, after having radiotherapy and an operation for a brain tumour, so difficult as a parent.

How do people cope

  • Hi Murphy and welcome to Cancer Chat.

I'm so sorry to hear your son was diagnosed with a brain tumour although I'm glad he has been able to have treatment and I hope his chemo is going well.

Watching your son go through all this must be very tough but I'm glad you've reached out to us as we have many parents on the forum that have been in the same position with their children, so you are not alone, and I'm sure it won't be long until some of our members stop by to offer their support and advice.

If you feel it may help to talk things through with someone then our team of cancer nurses are a just a phone call away on 0808 800 4040, Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m. They're very easy to talk to and they will do all they can to support you at this very difficult time.

I'm not sure if you or your son are already in touch with this charity, but if not, you can seek out further support and advice from The Brain Tumour Charity.

We're thinking of you Murphy and are sending all our strength and support your way.

    Kind regards,

    Steph, Cancer Chat Moderator

  • Many thanks for getting in touch, it’s a lonely place.
Andrew’s half way through his chemo and unfortunately he’s 200 miles away, he’s very ill and feeling very low, I want to make it better but of course I can’t.

    I really appreciate your response.
