On holiday in Singapore n felt unwell....

Went to a GP with symptoms of burping n farting excessively while in Singapore on holiday n two weeks later found that I have cancer in the duodenum after a series of blood tests, Ultrasound, MRI, CT scans. Now I am wondering when I return to UK, who do I go to for help to follow up on what to do for treatment.

  • Welcome to Cancer Chat, Wildfirejc.

I'm sorry to hear about your diagnosis while on holiday.

When you return to the UK, it might be a good idea to start by consulting your GP as they can refer you to specialists for further evaluation and treatment options.

I hope that others who have been in a similar position will stop by soon to advise you about what to do next but once you come back if you wish to ask one of our nurses some questions before speaking with your GP, they can be reached Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m on this phone number 0808 800 4040.

    With best wishes,

  • Thank you Renata.  When I had diabetes in2016, I was referred to the Paula Carr foundation n thereafter everythimg was in place regarding mgt of my illness, etc. Is there a similar orga isation in UK for xancer?

  • Hi Wildfirejc,

You should be able to find a lot of useful resources through the NHS, but for specific information and advice about your diagnosis, it would be best to get in touch with the cancer charity Bowel Cancer UK.

If you'd like to discuss this further with one of our cancer nurses when you're back, do make sure you give them a call on the phone number Moderator Renata included in her reply.

    I hope this helps.

    Kind regards,
