Results following Lletz

Hi all,

It’s been 4 weeks since I had lletz treatment for severe abnormalities, I contacted my GP surgery today and the receptionist told me the results have come back from the biopsy but she is unable to interpret them. Said she will get a GP to call me on Monday, at this point embarrassingly I burst into tears, I can’t help worrying that it’s bad news and also wondering why I haven’t received a copy of the results. I know I’m over thinking it but I feel so horrible at the moment.

Is this the normal process, (for Gp to get results but not me) if everything is ok?

  • Hello sarlou,

You did well to contact your GP to chase these important results. Don't worry too much though or read anything into the fact that the receptionist said she was unable to interpret them. These test results often use really complex medical terminology even for the simplest things so the receptionist would not have been able to make sense of them - you need to speak to someone who is medically trained for that.

Best of luck for the doctor's call tomorrow - I hope that they call you early so you don't have to anxiously wait by your phone all day. I am not sure why you didn't receive a copy of the results - it may be that this is the standard procedure at your surgery, that your GP gets the results first and then explains them to you which makes sense as it avoids anyone getting results they are not able to interpret themselves. It doesn't necessarily mean bad news but every hour that you are waiting to speak to someone about this can feel like a lifetime - luckily tomorrow you should no longer be left in the dark and I am keeping everything crossed for you that it all turns out to be fine for you.

Keep us updated if you get a chance on what the GP tells you tomorrow.

    Best wishes,
