Numb21

Hi

Managed so far the last two years  on my own recovering from breast cancer  .  Had my  2nd mammogram this week results in 7 days   .   Then October last year found a problem elsewhere after test after test after numerous scans and biopsies  they found  I have inner skin cancer and tumour and I  am starting chemotherapy treatment and radiotherapy treatment in March. How do I feel??   answer  to that is  Numb !!   -  Not sure how am meant to feel. I do Have good family  & close friends support but all i feel is numbness and asking myself why?    Have joined this Group  as going on this treatment journey again i feel as am on my own .

Four years ago I cared for my husband who still now relies on a stomach rig and liquid feed  after having mouth nose and throat cancer and is a risk of choking. We plod along .

And now I am starting treatment soon

Not sure how often I will be on here  still wondering if I made a mistake joining up.

But am here now.

  • Hi L_yn_,

Welcome to Cancer Chat. I hope you won't feel it's a mistake joining up - we are always here for support on the forum, and it's a safe space to write things down and to reach out to others who understand, particularly if you feel you are struggling to get support elsewhere.

It's good to hear you have family and friends around you, but I understand that it can be difficult to speak to people, and to feel as if you are on your own.

Feeling numb is understandable too, it is a lot to process. Hopefully once you start treatment you will feel a little better.

Do keep looking after yourself as much as possible, and if ever you feel you'd like additional support, please have a look at Macmillan and also Maggie's, who both have various resources, helplines and also local support centres.

    Wishing you all the best,

    Ben
