Night sweats

For the last 2-3 years I have had terrible nights sweats. They started off, not too bad, but have got to the stage now of getting up two or three times a night to change bedding, and night dresses.

In October 23, after numerous tests I was diagnosed with an Neuro Endocrine tumour on my small intestine. It measures 21 x 26 mms. Nothing has spread from it.

I have no pain or discomfort anywhere, only these dreadful night sweats.

I also have a nurse come in my home every 4 weeks to give me an hormone injection.

I wonder if there is anyone on cancer chat, who can advise me, re: the nightly sweats.

I have written to my Dr. asking for an operation. She will see what the next scan will show, and if nothing has spread, will consider it.

  • Hello Patriciamary and welcome to Cancer Chat.

I'm really sorry to hear about your night sweats and how much of an impact they are having.

Hopefully some of our members who have also had this issue will be along soon to share their experiences and advice but if you'd like to discuss this further with one of our cancer nurses, they're available on 0808 800 4040, Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m. They're very insightful and will do all they can to help.

I hope some of the tips and advice on our website will help you find a way to manage the sweating as well.

    Kind regards,

    Steph, Cancer Chat Moderator

  • Hi Patricia, my hubby who was diagnosed with a testicular tumour end of January has the most awful night sweats! Like you,  the bedding is saturated and needs changing, he’s never suffered this before so wondered if it was a symptom??

  • I am so sorry to hear about your Husband. From what I've learned, it's a hormonal thing in the body that causes the sweats. I've tried to cut down on the amount of liquid I drink, but it's made no difference. Even having a hormonal injection every 4 weeks, hasn't made any difference either. I just don't know what to do. I'm hoping that if I can have an operation to remove the tumour, the sweats will go, but I'll have to see what the Dr. says.
