New here

Hi I'm a 57 year old woman officially diagnosed with fybromyalgia in 2016 but had all the symptoms since having my son in 2000.

I've also Oestio arthritis since the mid 1990's.

On my 2nd marriage to someone who actually listens to me and is a paramedic that all the medical professionals hate as he knows the jargon that they talk.

Anyhow over the years everything has been put down to my fybromyalgia and Oestio arthritis suddenly I have appointment with a new student Dr who decided to send me for ultrasound scan they find polops and full gallbladder in November last year. Thankfully the polops were benign the problem being I get referred to gallbladder consultant who says of its your fybromyalgia and Oestio arthritis that's the issue but I'll refer you back to your Dr for investigation for bowel cancer. I'm confused now why hasn't any of this been picked up over the last 3years symptoms have stayed the same suddenly they want to go down all this cancer route. I just don't know what to do.

Sorry but if a rant on my 1st post

  • Hello Mistie

I'm sorry to hear that you've been living with some ongoing health problems over the past few years. It has undoubtedly been a difficult time for you but it's good to hear that you have such a supportive husband.

It sounds as if the doctors that you've seen most recently are being thorough in checking the symptoms that you've presented with to make sure that there is nothing else going on for you. However, it's natural that you're feeling anxious now that you're on a cancer pathway.

We know that for many people this period of waiting for appointments, tests, and results can be difficult. If you'd like to talk things through with one of our nurses for some advice and support you're welcome to call them on 0808 800 4040, Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm.

I do hope that you're able to get some answers and reassurance Mistie and that things can be improved for you.

    Best wishes,
    Jenn
