Reoccurence

Hello,

I was diagnosed with Pancreatic head cancer in May 22. I had Whipple surgery to remove the cancer, followed by 6 months of

Adjuvent chemotherapy. I have just had a phone call to tell me the results of my last CT/PET scan from 2 weeks ago.

It appears that the cancer has returned. A soft tissue mass has shown up at the original site of surgery, and also 2 small nodules in my

right middle lobe, 4 and 5 mm respectively.

The Consultant has referred me back to the oncologist to see about palliative chemo.

Does this mean I could be classed as terminal ? The nurse who called me said that my condition is treatable, but I cannot have more surgery, because the tumour has returned to the back of my Pancreas and is very close to the main artery that supplies blood to the liver.

I am actually numb at the moment, I have been losing weight and look very thin for a few months, so Its actually not so much of a surprise, but I am still numb. Has anybody else had the same experience as me ?

  • As I noticed your post didn't have a reply I wanted to stop by and welcome you to Cancer Chat, Teege.

I'm sorry to hear about your recent diagnosis. It's understandable to feel overwhelmed and numb in this situation.

While I can't provide medical advice, it's positive that your condition is considered treatable, even though further surgery may not be an option. Palliative chemotherapy aims to manage symptoms and improve quality of life, even in cases where the cancer is not curable. It's important to discuss your treatment options and prognosis with your oncologist, as they can provide personalised guidance based on your specific situation.

Many forum members here have faced similar experiences, and hope some of them will come by soon to offer insight and comfort during this time.

Take care, and I wish you strength and comfort as you move forward.

    Warm regards,
