Is there life after Abiraterone Fails?

Hello there.

I have had metastatic prostate cancer since March 2019. My initial treatment was ADT plus chemotherapy and then Abiraterone was added when my PSA began to rise. My PSA has been 'undetectable' for some time, but I have had a few problems with Abi, and my Oncologist has just told me the NHS will no longer fund Enzalutamide because I have already been on Abiraterone. This has concentrated my mind somewhat, and I am now contemplating what comes next when Abi fails. At the moment, all I can see are the options of:-

Immunotherapy (If I qualify)

More chemotherapy

Internal or external radiotherapy

There have been vague hopes that Darolutamide might be extend to cases of metastatic PC, but that seems to be it as far as drugs are concerned.

Does anybody have information on any more options that might be available?

Many thanks

  • Hi Dastardly,

Welcome to Cancer Chat. To be honest I am not able to advise on this - ideally it would be your doctor who is best placed to do so, as they will be able to provide the most relevant information that is specific to you.

You are also welcome to post in the 'Ask the Nurses' section of this forum, if you would like to get the thoughts of one of our nurses - although they may only be able to provide general information.

I hope you're able to find out more soon.

    Wishing you all the best,

    Ben
