Barb - husband is on palliative care for advanced melanoma. What will happen next?

Wife of cancer sufferer my husband is on palliative care for advanced melanoma he has lumps on his neck and behind his ears(tumours)

They are now very swollen and look bruised and inflamed, tender to the touch. What will happen next? Will they leak, will they bleed ?

  • I'm so sorry to hear your husband has advanced melanoma. Are his clinical team aware of the lumps and have they a treatment plan in place?

I'm afraid I can't answer your question as to whether they will leak or bleed but I urge you to contact his nurse or consultant to get advice on what to expect and how to deal with them. I will send you a friend request. If you accept it we can talk by private message but meanwhile, please talk to his clinical team.

Angie (Stage 3 melanoma patient since 2009)

  • Hi Angie, thanks for your reply . My husband, Brian, is now stage 4-5 having had tablets for 13 cycles and 3 lots of immunotherapy. He also has Parkinson’s so it limits treatments too. The last CAT SCAN, in September 2023 showed that it had spread even more.
since posting I have had home visits from various agencies including the GP!! and the palliative team who have explained everything , and what to expect, his life expectancy is limited and he has come to terms with this mostly now.

I hope your recovery carries on for you x
