Hi, I’m Chloe

Hi, my step dad has recently been diagnosed with stage 4 oesophageal cancer. At first we were told it was not cancer, a month later we got told it was stage 3 and that was in January. We are now in February and he has had his biopsy results back and it is now showing as stage 4. All of this is a huge shock to all of us but I’m just wanting ti hear of anyone else’s stories and experiences it is very difficult but we are all trying to be there for him. He is struggling but won’t show it, he is going to be having chemotherapy soon which I found out is palliative chemo, which I think is just to hopefully give him a longer rate of survival but please correct me if I’m wrong.
Anyway, I hope everything goes well to everyone here ️

  • Hello Chloe

I'm so sorry to hear about your Stepdad's diagnosis. It's obviously a very difficult time for you all.

Caring for a loved one when they receive a palliative diagnosis can leave you experiencing a whole rollercoaster of emotions. Hopefully you have a supportive group of friends and family who will be able to help you through the coming weeks and months. Don't be afraid to lean on each other.

If you think it may help to talk things through with someone at any point you're welcome to call our team of nurses on 0808 800 4040, Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm. I'm sure they will be happy to listen and offer any advice, information and support they can.

Keep in touch Chloe and let us know how you're all getting on.

    Best wishes,
