Mother has cancer again?

My mother’s stage 3c ovarian cancer was:diagnosed in 2020 and she has been in remission since then , she had surgery and chemotherapy.

It now looks like she might have cancer again because a recent scan showed another mass. We are waiting for results of the MDT discussion.

I’m trying not to worry too much but I’m not sure I can cope with this again.

  • Hello Rainbowgirl74

I'm sorry to hear that your Mum is waiting on the results of the MDT discussion following a recent scan that showed a mass. It's obviously a very worrying time for you both and natural that you will have concerns and questions.

Did the team give your Mum an indication about when she might hear some news from them? We know that for many people this period of waiting and uncertainty can be difficult and having been through treatment once before, it's understandable that you might both have some additional fears.

I wonder if you might find it helpful to talk things through with one of our team of nurses ahead of your Mum's appointment. I'm sure they will be happy to offer any advice, information, and support they can along with helping you think about any questions that you or your Mum might want to ask the specialists. If you'd like to talk with them they're available Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm on 0808 800 4040.

I do hope that there is some positive news for you both. Keep in touch and let us know how you get on.

    Best wishes,
