i had a mole removed 3 weeks ago, and they told me that they were 99% sure it was melanoma. My sister told me about this mole 2 years ago and, stupidly, I didn’t do anything. Am so worried that I have left it too late
I know how worried you must be but please try not to stress about leaving it too long. We all do it (I left mine for a year before seeking advice). Melanoma can be slow growing in the majority of patients so, if yours turned out to be malignant (which there is a chance it won't be), it doesn't necessarily mean the 2 year delay has made things worse.
75% of patients referred to dermatology are given a clean bill of health - their moles being either benign or dysplastic (precancerous). So the odds are good that yours may be fine. If it isn't, it could still be caught before it's grown deeper so try not to worry until you know the results. Good luck and please let us know how you get on,
AngieT I must say, your posts and information you’ve given have been the best things anyone whose waiting through a biopsy could hear, across the board. I kind of wish there was a breast cancer version of you too; not that I wish BC on anyone. When I had my mole removed your posts were super helpful. Luckily that was benign but now I am getting a breast biopsy. The fun never ends. For the OP Ali-poppy my mom had this huge very irregular looking flat mole on her back I myself was sure it was melanoma and I’m sure the dermatologist must have been too. But it came back only atypical (not cancer). She’s had that mole for 3 years but didn’t act on it. Best wishes to you.

May I introduce myself. I have stage 3 metastatic melanoma in lymph nodes in pelvic area. . First lump appeared 2018. Spread to groin nodes 2019, now in pelvic nodes 2024.. just about to start course of immunotherapy, pembrolizumab. I am rather bothered about maybe having to cope with side effects on my own. I really appreciate not everyone gets any side effects. Any ideas how I can manage and stay positive
