Hi i’m Jason ! I have had cancer twice now

I’m 50 years old and have had cancer twice now. The first time was in 2016 in which my Kidney had to be removed due to a lump inside of it and the second time was in 2023 in which a lump had formed and attached itself to the back of my abdominal wall. I’m a very positive strong minded person thankfully so i don’t let this get to me but sometimes it does which can’t be helped, after all we are only human! I’m a single dad and don’t really have many people to talk to about how i feel and what’s going on in my head. I guess it would be nice to talk with someone who’s been on the same path as me and understands. After all it’s good to talk! x

  • Hello Jason,

You sound like a really strong and positive person - fighting cancer twice in such a short space of time can't have been easy and you seem to be doing incredibly well. It's normal that sometimes what you've been through will get to you and as you say we are only human and it's a lot to have to deal with too. Being a single dad is not easy either and it can indeed be isolating if you have no one to talk to about what is going on in your head, and sometimes it can be hard to talk to those who are close to us but who haven't been through cancer and who may sometimes not really know what to say. This is why Cancer Chat exists and why you have joined a safe and anonymous platform where you will hopefully meet others who have been in the same boat.

It's definitely good to talk to others who can relate to what you've been through and I will now let them come and say hello and share their stories with you.

Best wishes and a warm welcome to our forum!
