Hi all,

so, here I am, trying to accept my diagnosis, knowing how lucky I am and yet feeling disappointed about a 4week wait for surgery. we were told it would be no more than 2 weeks

my daughter is amazing and so supportive, I couldn’t ask for more but obviously she is scared. Work are being supportive (I think?), I’m the one who seems to be struggling to accept the reality and the seriousness of it all

so, that’s me at the moment

I am sorry to hear that you have had a cancer diagnosis. Can I ask what type of cancer you have? This will help others who are in a similar position to offer you support. I am glad to hear that your work is being supportive and that your daughter is there for you too. It is not unusual to feel as you do following a diagnosis. You will go through a whole range of emotions at this time. It will get easier when you have had your surgery. Have you discussed treatment options yet?

Hi Jolamine,

thanks for being a voice in the dark… the nights are the most difficult for me.

I’ve been diagnosed with lung cancer bum fortunate that it is limited to the upper left lobe and the plan is to remove the lobe and the lymph nodes and then review whether any additional treatment is needed.

today… not so bad… been busy so less time to worry.

Hi Cuddly_Moon,

Nights seem to be the worst time for most of us - maybe because we are not so busy then and our over active imaginations come into play? Have you got a date for your surgery yet? I'm sure that you're keen to get started but anxious about how it'll go. Place your faith in your care team and let them do the worrying for you.

Keeping busy does help to take your mind off the wait.
