Hi Peter9611,
A warm welcome to our Cancer Chat community. I am sorry to hear about your bladder cancer diagnosis. You have come to the right place to talk to others who have been diagnosed with this type of cancer in the past. I thought I would mention in particular Mothergotham62 's bladder cancer diagnosis thread . As this member was diagnosed last April they may be further long in treatment and would be a great person for you to connect with - do feel free to respond to their post and I will make sure as well to make them aware of your thread.
I hope that you will hear from others who have had a similar diagnosis and that you can support one another during this challenging time. Have you got any information yet about what your treatment plan might be?
Best wishes,
Lucie, Cancer Chat Moderator
Hi peter when was you diagnosed i was in april i have had 6weeks of immunotherapy just had a op to do a biopsy i get the results this week to see what the next steps are
Hi Peter, I assume you have had bleeding and a cystoscopy to confirm any tumours. You would normally have a Turbt operation, hopefully the first and last. The operation is easy, usually as a day patient with a general or spinal anaesthetic, the spinal could be slightly painful if your vertebrae are close together (seriously that's what they blame). Approx 10 days post op you will start to bleed, hopefully just red urine, this is when the scabs from the operation are coming away, you may see some as you pass urine. This may go on for a while time and you will need to pee very often seems to vary.
I've had it 3 times now, all in 2023, last time 14th Dec 2023. The last (hopefully) was the worst. I had 17 days of desperate peeing passing very red urine sometimes just minutes apart all through the night, passing scabs and many blood clots. I had an especially bad 2 days period until I passed a very large clot then it was over, finally. I am a stroke survivor and so I was on operation managed warfarin.
I hope yours go ok but don't necessarily listen to the medics, check some USA sites for stories.
