JayneyLou Melanoma in transit…

Good evening to everyone..

2 months ago l was diagnosed with a secondary Melanoma or a Melanoma in transit..

After been in remission from a stage 2 Melanoma 9 years ago I was in disbelief.. I was given 8 days notice to advise i would be having the lump removed plus a full lymph node dissection.. surgery on 22nd Dec… probably a good thing as no time to think about it..

So  4 weeks post surgery im starting to feel stronger and looking to next steps.. waiting for surgery results, if i am gene mutation positive and possible Immunotherapy as preventative treatment..

sending positive thoughts to everyone

  • Hi Mel

ive also had a mixed response and not what I would have expected from so called friends.. some  have not bothered to message, send a card or ask l am..

i was cabin crew for many years and spent a lot of time in the sun well before we understood the effects of melanoma.. I’ve had lots of people say well it was only a mole… nothing surprises me any more..

I lost my Mum during in covid and have missed having her around to share my worries..

at least there are quite a few support groups, which have helped me  x

  • Hi yes I have the braf+ mutation, treatment has been up and down, my 1st 2 doses of ipi/nivo put me in hospital twice once with Stage 3 liver failure and then ulcerative colitis which is still ongoing since then I have been on single nivo it definitely causes fatigue and skin itching, sickness and my arthritis pain is worse, I have lost over half of my hair but it was very thick so I still look okay, generally I am doing pretty well I lost a bit of weight too as my appetite is poor have to force myself to eat sometimes, don't be too worried about treatment I'm sitting having mine as I type this but I know the weekend I will want to sleep or I won't be able to sleep that's another side effect sleep I either sleep well or can't sleep for a few days

  • Thank you my reoccurrence was found by me doing my skin check but mine was in my front abdomen so when you moisturize you body feel for bumps not just checking lymph node areas feel everywhere, also best of luck with the lump removal I have had one took out my groin it was a cyst and a lymphoid under it xx
