Lymphoma

Hi I got diagnosed with lymphoma at the end of October 2023 and have now started treatment(radiotherapy) at first I really didn't know what to do and found it hard telling anyone. I do have a good support network around me but it doesn't stop me thinking negative thoughts. I don't know what the next steps are after my treatment finishes and am worried it is going to come back. My question is to anyone who has gone through this when do you stop worrying about what the future holds

  • Hello Cooperman64

I'm sorry to hear about your recent diagnosis. It's naturally a worrying time for you and understandable that you have concerns and questions about the future.

It's great to hear that you have a good support network around you and I'd really encourage you to lean on those people whilst you're undergoing treatment.

I know that many of our members here will understand the question that you've raised. I'd really encourage you to talk with your Consultant or specialist nurse if you have one about your concerns. I'm sure that they will be able to offer some support and reassurance by answering some of the questions you have about what happens after your treatment finishes. They will likely also be able to let you know about any support services that are available in your area and if appropriate, refer you to a specialist counselling service.

For now, Copperman64 try not to think too far ahead as this will increase your anxiety. Concentrate on getting through this phase of treatment and taking care of yourself.

If you'd like to chat things through with one of our nurses you're welcome to call them on 0808 800 4040, Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm.

    Best wishes,

  • Hi

I had hodgkins lymphoma 20 years ago and now being diagnosed with aggressive non hodgkins lymphoma. I don't know which type of lymphoma you have and at what stage. 20 years ago I had 6 treatments of ABVD and 21 treatments of radio therapy. I was in stage 2 advanced. Now I am going friday for my 4th chemo session and know I will beat it again.

Sorry for the long story about myself. I just wanted to let you know lymphoma is a cancer that can be easily cured and I am living evidence of that.

Please let me know which lymphoma cancer you have (not a pro on cancers) but if it is simular to mine you have a very good chance to be cured and live a long life.

Being positive is vitally important to fight cancer according to me. So tell me what thoughts make you negative?
