PRoSigna Test - lumpectomy breast cancer

Hi

I had my hospital appointment today with the consultant Following my lumpectomy in December.

When they removed my lump, they found some pre cancerous cells, however this has been removed and I've got clear margins on my breast and lymph nodes.

I'm definitely having hormone tablets for 10 years and Radiotherapy. However, some patients benefit from chemotherapy and some patients don't. I'm one of those patients where they are unsure. So now I have to wait another 3-4 weeks for another appointment to see the Oncologist who will tell me what percentage the chemotherapy will be beneficial for me. They will also confirm how long I need Radiotherapy for.
If the percentage of chemotherapy being beneficial is 2% for example, I need to decide if I want it. Some patients decide they don't because it's going through all that pain for 2% whereas some patients say 2% is 2%. The test is called a pro signa test
So It's a waiting game to find out what percentage it is for me then I need to make decision. If I do end up having chemo, it be for 6 months  ‍♀️.

I am also going to be referred for thegenes  testing to see if it hereditary x

I'm fed up of all the waiting now.

Has anyone had the Prosigna test?

  • Hi Anjaya,

A very warm welcome to our forum.

I am glad to hear that your surgery is behind you and that the consultant was able to confirm today that  you've got clear margins.  Do you know what type and stage your breast cancer is.? Many people here have had the tests you mention. If you look up Laraj's story on the search forum at the top of this page, I think that she had the pro signa test. In her case she decided that the % she would gain by having chemo, wasn't wort the possible side-effects.

All the waiting is frustrating, but you'll soon have all the answers and be able to get on with treatment.

Please keep in touch and let us know how you get on. We are always here for you.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx
