gastro oesophageal junction cancer

Been having horrendous burps, at least 30 an hour, heartburn etc, pushed the doctors regarding my medication and they sent me for an endoscopy, which I had last Friday and they found a tumour on the junction of the stomach and esophagel , went for a CT scan on Monday to check it hadn’t spread and was hoping my case would be discussed at the weekly MDT meeting on Tuesday, typically my biopsy results hadn’t come back in time so won’t be discussed till next Tuesday. My cancer specialist nurse, who is lovely, has booked me in for her clinic a week on Thursday. So in limbo at the mo. But I’m not sitting around moping, keeping busy and have a full weekend of activities.

oh and have named the tumour’Eric’ not letting the word Cancer into the equation. So it’s fk off Eric.

  • Hello Steve and welcome to Cancer Chat.

It sounds like you're facing this situation with a remarkable sense of strength and resilience. Naming the tumour 'Eric' and adopting a positive attitude can make a significant difference in how you approach this experience.

The waiting period for results and discussions with the medical team can indeed be challenging, but it's great to hear that you're staying busy and engaged in activities.

Your cancer specialist nurse sounds like a supportive resource, and having her clinic appointment scheduled is a positive step. Also, if you feel like asking someone with a medical background some questions in the meantime, our team of nurses are available Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m on this freephone 0808 800 4040.

If you ever feel the need to talk or have questions along the way, remember that this community is here for you.

    With best wishes,
