Hi I'm Lisa

So i 'm waiting to go to initial appointment in first week of February via referral from GP. . The 2week rule has ended up being a 4 week rule. I feel sure it's fibroadenoma in my left breast  and I also have a small beady lymph node thing in armpit. No pain just discomfort and occasional aching. I'm not happy wearing bras at the moment.  I've got fibromyalgia anyway and begininning menopause right now so this better be an easier ride. Let's hope . The good thing is that it's usually treatable whichever way it goes . I noticed my lumps last month they just appeared! I'm a mum to 6 kids alyogether including a stepchild. My youngest aged 14 up to 31 and I've also got 6 grandkids! My hubby has cancer. His is lung . Life gets bumpy but have to hang in there somehow.

  • Hi Lisa,

Welcome to Cancer Chat. It's good to hear that you are dealing with things well at the moment - I hope it's not too much longer to wait for your appointment and for you to get the information you need.

It sounds like you have lots of people around you and lots to keep busy with, which can often be helpful when waiting for appointments.

We're always here on the forum if ever you need it and I hope that it can be of some help to you at this time. There will be many others here who have been through or are going through something similar.

    Wishing you all the best,

    Ben

  • Hi Lisa,

A very warm welcome to our forum.

I am sorry to hear about your symptoms. This is always an anxious wait and I'm sure that the strain of waiting an extra two weeks, won't have helped. It is a fact that not all lumps are cancerous. Many turn out to be benign cysts, fibroadenoma or due to hormonal changes. Only 20% of those referred to the breast clinic get a cancer diagnosis, so the odds are still in your favour.

I am sorry to hear that your husband is already challenged with lung cancer and hope that he is doing ok. Life does throw us some googlies at times, but we've just got to get on with it. The advice that we usually give people, who are playing this waiting game, is to keep themselves preoccupied, whether with work or pleasure, and to steer clear of consulting Dr Google. Much of the information here is aimed at the more spectacular cases, won't apply to you, won't give you any answers, but will still manage to scare you further.

I hope that your appointment comes through soon and that nothing untoward is found.

Please keep in touch and let us know how you get on. We are always here for you.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx
