In limbo

Hello, last week my beautiful mum was diagnosed with a large tumour in her stomach and patches on her liver.  We are waiting for results of a scan higher in her body.  This has all happened very quickly.  From going into the Dr on Tuesday afternoon with bloating to being diagnosed Tuesday night.  We are in a limbo of not knowing what will happen next.  I’m trying to think positively but every moment I’m not occupied it hits me and I break down.  I would rather go through this than see it happening to my mum x

  • Hello Misty123

I'm so sorry to hear about your Mum's diagnosis. It's obviously a difficult time for you both and understandable that you're finding things difficult.

I know that many of our members will understand how difficult this period of waiting can be. Not knowing what comes next can leave us to imagine all kinds of scenarios and naturally, this can add to our anxieties.

Often it can help to talk things through with someone and I wonder if you might find it useful to talk with one of our nurses ahead of your Mum's next appointment. I'm sure they will be happy to listen and offer any advice, information, and support they can along with helping you think about any questions that you might want to ask the specialist. If you think you're like to chat with them they're available Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm on 0808 800 4040.

I do hope that you have some news soon. Keep in touch and let us know how things go.

    Best wishes,
    Jenn
