Hypoechoic cyst on kidney

Hi in just wondering if anyone had discovered they had a hypoechoic cyst on kidney. I've got a few thing going on at the moment. I initially went to the drs with chest palpitations and wheezing, so I've gone through a possibly asthma diagnosis which concluded it wasn't asthma. I then had some bloodwork done, urine sample, FIT test and ECG. I've low iron, ECG showed I have boderline arthymia so waiting on a follow up from cardiology for a 24 hour ECG. My urine showed +++protein and +++blood which I've no symptoms of UTI and no pain, so sent to lab which showed boderline for both. I repeated test and Dr tested for albumin/CR ratio (whatever that is) which come back boderline. So dr wanted a ultrasound of my kidneys which has showed an hypoechoic cyst of 14.9mm on my right kidney. I'm booked in for some bloods 23rd Jan and the Dr had requested receptionists to make sure I book in a follow up after the blood tests. That's not till 29th. I'm a worrier and I've obviously googled and now I'm concerned what if this is cancer? I'm just wondering if anyone else has had similar and its been ok?

  • Hello ekl90,

A big welcome to our forum. I hope that you will hear from other members of our community who have had a hypoechoic cyst on their kidney. You did well to get all this checked by a doctor even though it must be stressful for you to be told some of your results were borderline and to be waiting for test results and for these follow ups after the blood tests. It must be quite an anxious time for you as you are having to wait a couple of weeks before the 29th. It can be really tempting in a situation like that to try and find the answers ourselves by looking things up on Google but this usually only creates unnecessary additional anxiety - Dr Google is famously unreliable and has a tendency to make you believe in the worst possible and least likely scenario. So it's best to keep well away from Google if you can as there are so many things it could be other than cancer but Google will bring cancer up very easily and often for no good reason. There are helpful tips on this page to help you cope while waiting for important news.

Others here may have had something similar and will hopefully come and share their story with you. Keeping everything crossed that it all turns out to be fine for you!
