Uterine Polyp / Ovarian cyst 2 week pathway

Hi all!

I hope that you are all ok :)

I was referred at the beginning of December for issue with my bladder, urinary frequency and retention. I had an Ultrasound and they found a 4cm complex cyst.

I was referred to Gynae under the two week rule and had an MRI on New Years Day.

Following yesterdays MDT meeting, I had a call to say that they are not worried by the cyst so 'no action' but that I have a polyp that

'needs to come out and be sent to pathology' So I am still on the 2 week thing and will have a hysteroscopy (awake) within 2 weeks.

The thing is, I am in so much pain. It comes and goes throughout the day and is this deep low back pain and pelvic pain.

I told the consultant on the phone and he said that there was nothing on my MRI to show why I am in pain and so it is not related to Gynae.

I feel a bit gaslighted to be honest :( I am not imagining the pain and don't know what to do. I have bloating too.

Would this polyp cause pain? He said not.

It is not in my head and I don't know whether to go back to my GP. I still have bladder issues and am in pain.

Just feel fed up with it all. Has anyone here any similar experiences? I feel unheard at the hospital xxx

  • Hi Ivy76,

I'm sorry to hear you are in pain and that you feel unheard with the people you have spoken to so far. It is good to hear though that they are not worried following the tests so far.

If you have further concerns or questions about what's happened, or if your symptoms are continuing and you feel you don't have answers as to why, then there is no harm in speaking to your GP again to see what they may be able to suggest.

I hope that things ease soon.

    Wishing you all the best,

  • Thanks so much Ben :)

I go in tomorrow for the hysteroscopy and polyp removal so I can't fault them on how quick they have dealt with this.

    Hoping for a benign result!

I am sure that if there is anything else going on in there, the hysteroscopy will be able to see it.

    thanks again!
