husband has incurable pancreatic cancer

i  feel   helpless   knowing i cant   do anything    for my     husband .How   i  cope   with   these    feelings ?

  • Hello lucycat,

I am so sorry to hear about your husband's pancreatic cancer diagnosis. It's normal to feel helpless in a situation like this and it can all be a bit overwhelming. There is no easy answer on how to cope with these overwhelming feelings and what may work for one person may not be the same for another but our website has helpful tips for Family, Friends and Caregivers which will tell you more about how to support a loved one with cancer without forgetting to also take care of yourself during this challenging time.

I just wanted you to know that you are not alone and other members of our community have been in a similar situation before and struggled with similar feelings. Talking to others who have dealt with these feelings before and supported their partner through terminal cancer can really help and I hope they will be along shortly to share their story with you.

Our nurses are also just a free phone call away if there is anything you would like to talk through with them - their helpline is open Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm on 0808 800 4040 and if at any point you have any question or wanted to discuss anything that is weighing on your mind, don't hesitate to give them a ring.

We're thinking of you and your husband during this difficult time.

    Best wishes,

  • thank you  ,i   have   had   some  more    bad    news  the   doctor  has   told    that   my husband   has   weeks   instead   of  months.

  • Oh I am so sorry to hear that. What a shock it must have been for you to learn that. This is such sad news. There is information on our website on the last few weeks and days with tips to help manage symptoms and keep him comfortable. This can be a difficult read though and I hope that you will hear from others here who've cared for a loved one in the last few weeks and know how difficult this can be.
