Hello I am finding it hard to tell my two boys what I’ve been told
Hello Happy-days
I'm sorry to hear about your recent diagnosis. Naturally, it's a difficult time at the moment, and understandable that you may be finding it hard to share the news with your boys and other loved ones.
We do have some information on our website about talking to children about cancer and I'd really recommend that you have a look through this. I know that a lot will depend on how old your boys are. You might decide to wait until you have a full picture of your diagnosis and the next steps before you share this news with them. It's possible that they already know something isn't write and it may be better to share with them that you're undergoing some tests.
I can see from your other post that your husband was with you at the hospital. Have you spoken with him about the boys and how to best move forward? I'm sure that the two of you will make sure that your boys are well supported through what is going to be a worrying time for you all.
If you want to talk things through with one of our nurses at any point you're most welcome to call them on 0808 800 4040, Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm. I know they will be happy to offer any advice, information, and support they can.
I know that you're also waiting for a CT scan at the moment and I hope that the results of that scan bring some positive news. Keep in touch Happy-days and let us know how you get on.
Best wishes,
Jenn
